CE marking of Abtech's Electrical Enclosures

CE marking is a legal requirement for products placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market where applicable EU directives apply. At Abtech, CE marking is applied in accordance with the relevant European directives and product standards, ensuring compliance with essential safety requirements and supporting free trade across EU member states.

ATEX Junction Boxes

Junction boxes from Abtech Ltd that are ATEX rated are fully CE marked in accordance with the ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU).

This means they have undergone rigorous conformity assessment procedures, including design evaluation, testing, and quality assurance, to ensure safe operation in hazardous areas where explosive gases or dusts may be present. The marking reflects compliance with strict requirements covering equipment classification, protection methods, and temperature limitations, giving customers confidence that the products are certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and meet all relevant safety and regulatory standards.

You can find out more information on the ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU) here.

Safe Area Junction Boxes

For junction boxes intended for use in non-hazardous (safe) areas, CE marking is applied under the Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU).

To meet the requirements of this directive, junction boxes must be supplied with terminals fitted, ensuring they form part of an electrical assembly that falls within the scope of the directive.

Where applicable, conformity is demonstrated against relevant harmonised standards, supporting safe installation and operation within low-voltage electrical systems.

Low Voltage Directive Declaration of Conformatities are available below for our SX, BPG, ZAG, Nautilus ranges.

You can find out more information on the Low Voltage Directive (2014/35/EU) here.

If the operating voltage falls outside the limits stated on the applicable Declaration of Conformity, the customer will be required to advise which declaration or directive should be applied to their equipment. Abtech will review this information and endeavour to apply the appropriate directive where possible. Please note that any additional assessment required may be subject to a charge.
